August Food Giveaway: God Works in Mysterious Ways

by David Fawcett

These are the types of stories I love to share.

We had a number of familiar faces come through for prayer last Saturday, but others were new.

One first-timer embodied how God works in ways we can never predict. While on her way to Hobby Lobby in Woodbridge, this woman saw the food pantry sign at the All Saints’ entranceway.

The woman, who was not from Prince William County, pulled in for food without planning to do anything else. But while she was finishing up, she was encouraged to stop by for prayer.

She did, but did so reluctantly, not totally sure what she was walking into. She initially didn’t have any specific prayer requests, but was open to general prayer. That’s all God needed.

Slowly, the Holy Spirit began to work in her. She may not have been able to articulate a specific prayer, but God knew what was on her heart and that was enough. She reached for a Kleenex box and started wiping away tears. She said she felt better when she left. Praise God!

Overall, we had 19 people come through for prayer.

The requests included prayers for healing from cancer, to getting clarity from doctors regarding vertigo, to getting ready for the upcoming school year to forgiveness to grieving the death of a mother.

We had people come through as usual from different countries, including the Philippines and Sierra Leone.

We gave out our remaining prayer shawls. We also gave out a number of Bibles and Beanie Babies for the kids. All were well received.
