It was another great day to pray for others at the January food pantry. We had 27 come through for prayer, including two individuals just before we finished up at noon.
With a steady flow of people needing prayer, it helped to have six prayer team members to pair off without anyone having to wait. We also gave out several of the prayer shawls and Hispanic Bibles.
Here are some of the requests we prayed over:
A Hispanic mother and daughter. So moved by the experience, the mother offered to come back for the next food pantry and help us pray. There was also an opportunity to discuss our needlework ministry with the daughter, who is interested in learning more about knitting.
We prayed for a father and a son. The son, who is eight, wanted prayer after his 14-year-old cat passed away last week from a tumor. The boy was very talkative and curious. He asked several questions and also had lots to share.
We also prayed for a woman who is leaving this week with her husband for their ninth medical mission trip back to her native Philippines. She also asked for prayers for her son, who is bi-polar.
We prayed for a middle-school boy, who wanted prayer for school, particularly his studies.
One lady wanted prayer for all of the unrest being caused in our area and in Minnesota. The woman prayed a prayer of thanksgiving and blessings for All Saints’ and expressed her gratitude for the prayer team members praying for her. She was so joyful, and her attitude was contagious. After our prayer time with her, we felt encouraged and loved even more by Jesus.
A gentleman came in and wanted prayer in general. He is a strong Christian and just needed a booster shot of the Holy Spirit. He prayed blessings on All Saints’ and those who prayed for him.
A lady from Peru asked for prayer because she had a lot of anxiety about the possibility of family being deported, elderly parents and their health, and wanting God’s peace. After prayer time ended, she mentioned feeling calmer and having more peace.
Heidi’s encounter
I came to church to drop off a few things for my Sunday school class and grab my laptop from upstairs. At the same time, a woman who was driving around the church pulled up and asked me where to drop off items for the Food Giveaway. She introduced herself and explained that she tried to drop off the items at ACTS, but they were unable to receive them and recommended All Saints’ instead. She was thrilled because her dear friend CONNIE ODEMS was a parishioner at All Saints’ and often raved about her church. [Connie Odems went to be with the Lord on November 12, 2023.]
We both shared how much we loved Connie and benefitted from her Bible teaching and passionate love for Jesus. She said she’ll visit All Saints’ one Sunday to enjoy the church Connie loved.
So there we are. More food for the Food Giveaway. Meeting a fellow sister in Christ whose faith was increased because of Connie. And perhaps a newcomer.
God is so good!!!!
