Updated Diocesan Policy Replaces Protecting God's Children Training

The Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic and the Province (the entire ACNA) have updated their child protection policies to now include all vulnerable adults and more detailed guidelines for all ministries. The former “Protecting God's Children Training” will now incorporate all the new updates and broader training to include adults, and will now be called “Safeguarding Training.” Diocesan ministry leaders and volunteers serving adults are now required to take the new training. This includes volunteers in prayer ministry, lay eucharistic ministry, and congregational care.

If you are due for renewal of your Safeguarding Training (formerly known as “PGC Training”), or have been contacted by your Ministry Leader as needing training, here are the dates of the NEW Safeguarding Trainings to be held in the Administrative Conference Room (refreshments provided):

Saturday, September 27, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Tuesday, October 14, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Monday, October 27, 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

For folks who took the class in January 2025 or after, a shorter class option is available with an in-person viewing of the NEW Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Video, offered in the Admin Conference Room on the following dates:

Sunday, November 9, 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.
