Why "Formation"?

by Mother Maryanna Stumbaugh

You may have noticed that Adult Education (or Adult Discipleship) is now being referred to as Adult Formation.

This may seem innocuous, but it is actually an exciting shift we are making intentionally and in prayerful discernment.

The word “formation” expresses more of a holistic approach, as we seek to be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit into the image of God. We are called to love the Lord our God not only with our minds but with our whole heart and strength. “Formation” describes this focus — not only intellectual edification, but to include the formation of our beings conforming to Christ.

We intentionally engage this work as one body, one community in Christ. So we invite you to invest in the Adult Formation hour on Sunday mornings from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.!
