Fruitful Prayer at the Food Giveaway

by David Fawcett

Two cool stories to share from prayer time at the October 11 food pantry.

We will start with one individual who first came to the pantry three months ago for food. This person then came in for prayer, and Mother Valarie and Kat Zwingle prayed for this individual. During that time, Valarie asked them if they wanted to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. They accepted.

This person is now helping at the food pantry and was working at one of the tables this past Saturday, handing out food.

The other cool story is this one: A woman came in for prayer and immediately recognized Shelley Lingamfelter. As it turns out, Shelley taught this woman’s son in kindergarten. That boy is now 24 years old. What a nice reunion for those two. And better yet, Shelley said he was a great little boy when she taught him. You never know who God is going to bring together and when.

Overall, we had around 30 people come through for prayer, with most of them coming in the first 30 minutes.

Several men and women wanted prayer for their native Philippines after the recent earthquake there. They also asked for prayers for family members who are battling depression and multiple sclerosis. The one couple had previously been in for prayer and reported that the man who received prayer was getting better.

There were prayer requests for foot surgery as well as job opportunities.

There were at least three prayer requests for individuals dealing with heart issues. One woman wanted prayer to overcome fear as she prepares for an upcoming heart surgery, and another is awaiting a pacemaker to be put in.

Prayers were requested to resolve family tension in the household and prayers were requested for a young girl to receive better prescription glasses to help her with her eyesight.

All the shawls made by our Dorcas ministry were handed out, as were several Bibles.

A big hit remains the Beanie Babies. One young girl kept looking over her shoulder at the Beanie Baby bin as she patiently waited for her mother to finish up with prayer. Once prayer was over, her mother allowed her to go and pick out one stuffed animal.

Thank you to all who helped make this time another blessed opportunity to pray for others. God was on the move again.
